The statue of St. Simeon Stilytes, the Helder, is placed on the top of one of the central Terrace’s Spires and it faces the South. He was born in 389 on the border between Cilicia and Syria, he was a christian ascetic who used to live for 37 years sitted on the top of a column. His right hand is resting on his chest and in his left hand he holds a scroll which is partially unrolled. A tree trunk can be seen behind his right leg. He is barefoot, looking at the sky. The sculpture was made in 1811 by Gaetano Matteo Monti, at the time sculptor for the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano.
