Young Saint

Giovane Santo
This spire is on the central Terrace of the Duomo, pointed towards the north. At the top of it there is a statue representing a Saint with youthful appearance, an artwork datable to the mid-twentieth century, a probable reproduction of a nineteenth-century statue. The face, turned three-quarters of the body, is endowed with intense expressiveness. Dressed with a drape that leaves his thorax and back uncovered, the statue’s arms are gathered on his chest, he is barefoot.
