After a great restoration project, on May 30th 2016 the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano will inaugurate the restored Archives making accessible the entire history of the Duomo and of the city of Milan.
The renovated Archives present triplicated spaces expanded from the Sala dei Milanesi up to the center of the Veneranda Fabbrica offices rewarding the visitor with an amazing and unique view of the external apse of the Duomo Cathedral, surrounded by Eighteen Century wooden shutters keepers of the day-by-day diary of the city kept since 1387.
The newest technologies give to the Archives a new guise offering a direct usability to anyone interested in discovering the treasure of the reborn Archives that reveal documentary gems preserved by the Fabbrica. Here is shield the history of the Duomo together with the daily Milanese people life who lived the city streets.
The special appointments of “Get Your Spire and discover the Archives” * will resume for those who support the restoration of the Cathedral and its 135 spires project with the opportunity to visit once more the Archives.
The first two guided tours are scheduled the 18 of June and the 27 of June. It is possible to visit the Archives of the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo, alone or in groups, with private guided tours or special tours for students and groups upon request. Guided by the staff of the Archives, it is possible to discover the documentary heritage of the Fabbrica del Duomo, trace of the city history.
Tours will be organised for groups of around 16 people. Each donor may bring another person with him or her. Reservations are accepted on a first come first served basis no later than 5 working days before the date.
