Continuing the commendable Get your Spire fund raising project for restoration and upgrading of the Cathedral, Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo willingly agreed to the idea of holding the exhibition “Duomo Cuckoo: Milan's clock”, a project by Luca Trazzi coordinated by Beatrice Mosca, promoted with the patronage of the Municipality of Milan during the Milan Design Week 2014.
The project includes 150 cuckoo clocks each in the shape of the Duomo, made by Diamantini&Domeniconi in the many materials used to build the Cathedral, from natural wood to glass and iron, each one with a different colour and finishing, symbolising creativity Made in Italy. The clocks will tick in unison in an exhibition that will be opened to the public on Tuesday 8 April 2014, to coincide with the International Furniture Show (Salone Internazionale del Mobile), in the Sala delle Colonne of the New Grande Museo del Duomo and will remain open until 27th April.
During the exhibition period in the Museum, visitors will be able to choose a Cuckoo clock directly on site to receive as a benefit for a donation, the proceeds of which will be used entirely for the Get your Spire campaign, to fund the restoration work in progress on the Cathedral.
The project will be presented to the press on Monday 7 April 2014 at 12:30 in the Sala delle Colonne of the Grande Museo del Duomo.
All cuckoo clocks have been adopted! Thanks to all who have taken part in the initiative.
