A new spire for the Duomo

Young students of the Saint Louis School of Milan worked at the project “The 136th Spire on the Duomo”

Many schools, from all over the world, every day visit the Duomo di Milano and its Terraces, to discover one of the most important monuments of the city and its story.

Students of the first level at the Saint Louis School were so impressed by the hundreds of Cathedral’s spires that they decided to contribute by creating their own little dowel of the same Duomo that they learn to discover piece by piece.

Though, children created their 136th spire, by carving the clay as real artists and shaping their imagination.

All creations have been collected in a diary written in English, which contains notions about the Duomo and suggestions for a visit on Terraces.

The Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo embraced this project and realized a gallery with pictures of children’s creations.

To hand down to future generations an historically important monument as Milan Cathedral is one of the aims of Get your Spire project; the affection for the Duomo that these young students demonstrate is essential so they can understand, one day, the importance of the Cathedral and keep on protect its story and cultural value.
